I want it all and I want it now. But I get tired when I try to figure out how to handle my multimedia.
VMWare Fusion 4 & Parallels Desktop 7 will allow you to install and run Windows in a Virtual Machine. I tested both packages extensively before I made my purchase.
I spent the past few hours reading new and old messages in various Poser forums. I was reminded of good and bad memories.
I was reminded that many people appreciated my efforts to make Poser easier to understand. It felt good to see at least one software writer appreciated my efforts in his behalf.
The negative forum posts hurt almost as bad today as they did years ago. So many people decided there was something wrong with me, and wouldn’t listen to reason. Yes, I had some challenges of my own, but I never stopped trying to overcome the problems, and I kept on creating new tutorials for years afterward. I finally gave up because it hurt to help a community that would not allow me to be a member.
Spelling and Grammar
I’m a writer. I learned decades ago that’s it’s important to learn proper spelling and grammar. Yes, at the same time, I take a few liberties as Artistic License. I learned that you want to project the best image of yourself when you use the written word. The same is true whether your words are in print, or on the Internet.
I’m delighted to see that computers really make it easy to spell properly. My browser has a built-in spell checker. Comic Life 2 lets me know if I misspell words. I just don’t see how anyone can ignore these tools and continually misspell their words. I’m still flabbergasted to see some blog entries that I can barely understand.
I can only guess that some people just don’t care to present themselves in the best possible light. And some of these people call me a bully if I try to help them.
I take pride in being a Non Conformist. I mostly avoid the directions of the faceless mobs, the trends, etc. Like thousands of other loyal Apple users, I had to get the most recent Apple updates the same day they arrived. These updates were indeed agonizing.
I started out using Software Update on my Mac Mini, which I had recently turned into my Primary Macintosh computer. Oh my God, a 6-hour download?! I abandoned the update for awhile and worked on a video project. I started having anxiety attacks about the editing project, and returned to the Apple upgrade experience.
This time I decided to go directly to the Apple Support Downloads site to get the updates. Here is the link. I think it was more efficient to download directly from this site because I could save the files, and use them on the second Macintosh computer. But then I realized my Mac Mini’s wi-fi connection was abysmally slow. I’ve covered that story in this blog post. I started using the iMac for downloads.
Many of my friends and relatives recall how my desk collapsed, and my 24″ iMac hit the floor face-first. I consider it a miracle that the iMac survived with no apparent outright physical damage. The screen wasn’t even scratched. Internally I wasn’t so fortunate. The internal hard drive doesn’t work. The DVD burner is possibly gone as well.
The iMac still functions when it boots off an external USB drive. Many people are amazed that it works at all. I have to imagine the iMac isn’t terribly efficient, running off an external USB drive. I decided it was time to make the Mac Mini my primary Macintosh, a year after I bought it.
I haven’t made the wisest decisions recently. I can say it’s due to my recent depression. I can say I bought some stuff I always wanted. That much is true.
My first significant purchase was this wonderful 24″ LED monitor by Viewsonic for $190. Here is the link.
I do a lot of graphics and video work. I absolutely needed a second monitor for one of my Macintosh computers. I absolutely wanted and needed a large monitor to replace the 25″ monitor that died last year.
